Returning Carers' Workshop

Childcare Services would like to invite you to our upcoming Returning Carers' Workshop. This in-person event is being offered across the University to parents/carers who have recently returned, or are about to return to work, after a career break. The goal is to provide recent returners with the information, tools, support and networks they need to ensure a smooth and successful return to work. The workshop will be open to all who have recently returned or will be returning to work after taking a break for caring responsibilities, with a particular focus on those returning to work following a period or periods of maternity leave, paternity leave, adoption leave or parental leave. It is an ideal event to include as part of a KIT (keeping in touch) day.

Over the course of the workshop, you will:

  • Learn about the University's childcare provision, new government childcare funding and other family support;
  • Learn about relevant HR policies and practices, and have your questions answered by an HR team member and a Childcare Services team member;
  • Hear from the University's Wellbeing team;
  • Discover more about the Returning Carers' Fund;
  • Hear from a panel of returning carers (academics, researchers, and professional and support staff) who will share their tips on time management and balancing home and work demands. This will be an interactive session and questions are welcomed, either on the day or, if preferred, can be submitted beforehand.

To sign up for this workshop, and to pose questions to the panel, please contact Jennie Challender, Head of Early Years, Childcare Services: jennie.challender@admin.ox.ac.uk

The session will start at 10:30am and last approximately 2 hours. The venue is fully accessible and babes in arms and small children are welcome to attend with their carers. Tea and coffee upon arrival from 10am.

Location: Rothermere American Institute, 1a South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3UB
